Executioner in Chief
#1
Quote:If the five go off as planned, it will make 13 executions since July when the Republican administration resumed putting inmates to death after a 17-year hiatus and will cement Trump's legacy as the most prolific execution president in over 130 years. He'll leave office having executed about a quarter of all federal death-row prisoners, despite waning support for capital punishment among both Democrats and Republicans.

It is the jury who condemns them to death.

"Sentence" to death would be more accurate. The Jurisdiction decides whether to off them or not, and when.

These are federal prosecutions and federal inmates. The jurisdiction is the federal government.

Yes. And it is sad commentary that our federal government participates in such treachery when the law doesn't require them to. Bad enough that localities do this. But the feds action reflect on the nation as a whole. This puts us in the league with Saudi Arabia and Iran. Is this MAGA ?

Again, the jury are the ones who decide sentencing.

The jury convicts according to guidelines. It is the state who decides whether they were killed. The jury is not the executioner.

If the jury decides on the death penalty, the state is obliged to carry out the sentence. There are appeals built into the system to give the defendant the right to challenge the verdict. Evidently, those up to be executed could not convince anyone to change their mind. Funny you people would object since you are responsible for taking the lives of millions of unborn, even born babies.

The President has the power to stay or delay executions, including born babies. The President does not have the power to deny women their constitutional rights.

Again, you people are guilty of millions of deaths. Compare that to 17 duly convicted murderers.
